From now on, we offer our users a service for creating shortened links (URLs) at https://url.gwdg.de. These links then serve as a redirect to an Internet service, a web page or a file, which often have a very long original URL, and can thus be better used in documentation or other references. The central goal of this new service is to increase security and transparency when using a forwarding service. Extended functions are already planned for the future operation of the URL Shortener, which will be made possible by the necessary login with a GWDG account.
